Since 1994 Wildkin has offered top quality and creative accessories for children. Our inspiration comes from the delightful universe of children’s imagination and our desire to create products that are fun and unique while still practical. We challenge ourselves to create new ways to look at the world of children’s products – an ordinary school backpack is transformed by use of a vivid print fabric that sparks the imagination of its young owner. We would like to reassure our customers that safety and quality are of the highest importance at Wildkin. Our backpacks, lunch bags, duffel bags and wallets are made of polyester and nylon. The printed fabric used on the exterior of these items has a PVC coating on the reverse side to give it more structure. Each batch of fabric printed is tested for lead levels by an independent laboratory prior to being used to make our products. Federal guidelines specified in 16 CFR (Code of Federal Regulations) 1303.1 allow lead levels of 600 parts per million (ppm) or 0.06%. The agreement with our fabric manufacturer stipulates that we will not accept a batch that is tested by the independent laboratory at greater than 60 ppm (0.006%). Test results we have on file have been coming in at < 10 ppm or 0.001%.
Both our agreed upon maximum acceptable levels and our tested levels are lower than a new proposal being talked about by Congress (0.009%).
It is also worth noting that in no case is the PVC backing on our products exposed. It is covered by a minimum of one layer of polyester or nylon lining.
